Christina passed along word that there will be a food drive at the show at the Resch Center in Green Bay. There will be a collection box set up at the main entrance.
So NKOTB's summer tour dates were announced today. The only date that's anywhere near to being reasonable for us to go to is Tinley Park (Chicago).
Seriously guys, have you looked at a map? How many east coast shows have you done since last fall? Now let's talk about how many you've done in the upper midwest.
Now let's talk about how we're going to be able to make it to more than one show.
We are currently accepting endorsement offers. Would you like ProjectNKOTB to hawk your wares? We're willing to do almost anything - if the price is right.
Holla! (oh, and we're loving that Donnie has taken to signing off his Tweets with that little word!)
Usually it's just little things, like a paperback book for $1 at a thrift store, or a piece of fabric, or striped socks, or crap I don't need at Target. You know, stuff.
Today the stress level was pretty elevated - my family is in Fargo and my mom is breaking my brain and my heart by refusing to leave her house even though it's half a block from one of the evacuation zones (hi mom!).
So, I bought tickets to Green Bay.
Section 100, Row C, Seats 6 & 7. We got lucky. Another friend (Hi, Kim T!) said that she had just scored Row D, so on a whim I checked. And on a total impulse I clicked "buy."
Is anybody going from Des Moines to Green Bay? We might need a ride. We can get home from Green Bay easily enough, but it would be super not to have to drive all the way back to the Twin Cities before heading to Wisconsin.
If all else fails, as our friend Tiff suggested, maybe we could hitch a ride on the Baby Daddy Bus ;)
[We interrupt our regular programming for a non-New Kids experience]
Some of you who follow us on Twitter are aware that before this concert, we were feeling quite old. We don't have the kind of clothes anymore for this kind of outing. 18+ shows are not condusive to matching "Face Time" clothing. We managed to pull something together though.
We headed downtown to a bar called 508 for a little pre-concert happy hour and dinner. WE REMEMBERED TO EAT!!!
We also did a shot. It tasted like glitter mixed with rock 'n roll. We named it the Douchey Magoo after a kind of douche bag bartender at a bar in St Paul that will remain nameless but rhymes with Francini's.
It was raining, of course, so we waited for the doors to open before heading down there. We manuvered ourselves into position to wait out the three opening acts. The rain stopped and it was quite nice to stand outside and just listen. Once the third act was beginning to take down we made our way through the crowd trying to find a spot to land. Not easy in a sea of 6'2" 19 year olds wearing sequined suits.
It was crowded but Lady GaGa was awesome. There is not much else to say about the actual show. We will let our videos and pictures do the talking on that one.
And a few videos...
An acoustic version of Poker Face (it starts about one verse in). Listen for Alexis threatening to kick someone's ass at 0:33. At 3:22: "I'm just a blonde bitch in a bunch of bubbles. And I'm okay with it." Also, around 5:05 or so, you'll have to tilt your head :)
The second half of Future Love. LOVE THIS SONG. It will get stuck in your head, but it's great.
And finally, Poker Face (full version). Notice how wobbly the camera is. We were packed shoulder to shoulder with our neighbors - there was no helping it.
We have a few little random clips too, but these were the best.
After the show we assumed our stalking stances. Armed with the pictures of us with Lady Gaga and my 11th grade Prom date and a silver sharpie we set out into the night trying to get them signed and maybe a few post Prom pics taken. It was a success!! While we were leaning against the wall of the Fine Line I noticed DJ Space Cowboy (aka Prom Date) exiting the building. I said something to Kim and took off down the street after him. He was gettting on his bus when I caught up to him. In a very excited (shrilly?) voice I pulled out the picture of us from LA and asked if he would sign it and if we could take another picture. At this point I noticed that Kim was STILL WAITING AGAINST THE WALL. I began to scream her name, flail my arms wildly and generally act like a crazy person. She had the camera and the silver sharpie and without them I was just a crazy person with a glossy 5x7" picture of a celebrity in my purse. Finally, sensing my craziness escalating DJ Space Cowboy began to lead me towards Kim instead of my continuing to try and get her attention. Kim noticed this and finally snapped out of her coma and met us half way. Space Cowboy happily took several pictures with us and signed my picture from LA. He is very sweet and personable but has been taking posing lessons from the DWs.
See, BEST NIGHT EVER PROM!!
He signed Kim's picture too. But it is actually of Lady GaGa. We discovered that he also stole our silver sharpie when Lady GaGa finally exited the building and was unable to sign our pictures of her from LA as well. But we have a new picture for next time.
Q: What's the deal with this party? Is everyone invited? Can I come? A: Everyone is invited!! Yes, you can come!! We are an inclusive group of girls! We can't wait to meet all of you!!
Q: Is there a cover charge? A: No cover charge! But we do like presents.
Q: Is there an agenda? A: No agenda. You can come and go as you please. But wouldn't it be fun if this was a secret meeting like in the movie The Skulls? You are expected to buy your own food and beverages. Unless we win the Power Ball this weekend... then it's on us.
Q: Do we need to RSVP? Yes and no. We would love to know you are coming so that the restaurant can be adequately staffed but we are not going to kick you out if you didn't.
Corrie went above and beyond the call of duty and made the coolest little mini-scrap book on PDF. It is awesome. Thanks so much Corrie. We hope that everyone enjoys her recap as much as we did!
HOLLA Alexis and Kim

First things first, there have been more days here than we can count on one hand that have been over fifty degrees! Alexis is no longer pasty white, but a nice pale pink after spending several hours outside with the kiddos yesterday. Spring is here!!!
We got together today to work on our Spring Tour '09 Face Time wardrobe. Yes, wardrobe. Rather than have one shirt that we wear to all of the shows as we did last fall, we've decided that we need a variety.
In planning the wardrobe, we have come to the conclusion that pretty much anything can be made into Face Time gear. Face Time crash helmets? Totally. Face Time Tyvek jumpsuits? Yes! Face Time sauna suits? Why not!? Face Time monkeys? Stay tuned...
Here's a preview:
See all of those items hanging behind the first shirt? They're not ready for public consumption yet. The paint needs to dry before adding the final bling.
These are our pride and joy right now: Face Time Camp Chairs!
Jealous much? Ha.
We're on our way out to see if we can find any last-minute outfits for Lady GaGa tomorrow night. We've been listening to the Top 40 radio station all day trying to win tickets to the acoustic performance at their station beforehand, but all they seem to be giving away is Jonas Brothers tickets. Not our scene... but we might go if it was free.
My mom told me when I was younger that if you want to go to a party, then you should just throw one! So over the weekend Kim and I decided that is exactly what we would do. The first one went so well in St Paullast fall and we had to miss it that we wanted to actually attend one. Announcing the Champaign, Illinois Pre-NKOTB Concert Party with ProjectNKOTB!
Questions? Comments? Wanna RSVP? Send us an email at projectNKOTB (at)gmail.com
Holla! Alexis and Kim
(Special Thanks to Kim T. at www.returnofNKOTB.blogspot.com for again donating her talents for our party flyer! HOLLA!)
Last night, just for fun, I checked on tickets to the Green Bay show. Live Nation had some in the 11th row on the floor... Thus began an hour-long inner dialogue about why we should or should not go for it.
In the end, and even before Alexis yelled at me about "STOP IT, WE CAN'T GO," I came to that same conclusion.
Sigh.
Now, if anybody else is looking for Green Bay tickets, they're out there.
Even better - if somebody wants to buy US Green Bay tickets, and then transport us there (preferably via private jet or hot air balloon), and then also has access to a time machine so we wouldn't have to miss two more days of work, shoot us an email! ;)
WARNING: THIS VIDEO USES NAUGHTY LANGUAGE!! DON'T PLAY AT WORK UNLESS YOUR BOSS LIKES NAUGHTY LANGUAGE OR YOU ARE SELF EMPLOYED AND LIKE NAUGHTY LANGUAGE YOURSELF
This video from YouTube has been making me smile all day. Replace Smashing Pumpkins, Kurt Cobain and X-Files with "Anyone playing Lilith Fair and 90210" and it could be my anthem.
So, in honor of my smiling I have decided that we need a contest to celebrate. Ok, the contest is partially because of the whole 200 Posts Challenge but still...I really think that re-connecting is very important and I want to give you an incentive to do it.
So here is it. Send us your story about your long lost New Kids friend that you have reconnected with. We will number them as they come in to our email and then we will put the numbers in a hat and have Baby Barbie pick one out of a hat. She is 2 so you know she will be fair. Winner will get their very own action figure!! We promise to send it out more promptly then last time. Come on, you know you want one!!
Also, if you are going to a show that we are not going to please do send us an email. People who are interested in guest blogging will get a prize too. It won't be an action figure but it will still be pretty awesome.
[edited to add: Entries for the "long lost New Kids friend" contest will be accepted until April 9, 2009. Guest Blogs will be accepted until the tour's over!]
Hope everyone is having a great day!! Holla! Alexis and Kim
The question should be “Is this really still happening?!?!” When Kim and I started our little adventure I never thought that it would go this far. I never thought we would make it to 200 posts. I also never thought we would end up at as many shows as we did. But we did and now I can’t believe that the spring tour is underway. It is so exciting to see the videos that are showing up on the internet. Let’s Get This 2009!! Kim and I kick off our own Magic Spring 2009 tour in a little over a week with Lady Gaga at the Fine Line. We are seeing 5 concerts in 20 days!! Along with Lady Gaga, there is Britney Spears, Lily Allen and TWO New Kids shows!! I am so excited to be continuing our adventures. The concerts are great, the adventures are amazing. But, and forgive me for getting all sappy for a moment, the best part of this whole thing is that I get to do it all with my best friend (insert slow-motion hug here). I wish Kim and I had known each other earlier in life, but if we had met before we may not have been friends. We bonded over a love for boy bands and happy hours after meeting as part of a larger group. We are friends now and everyone needs a friend to obsess over New Kids with and if I didn’t have Kim I would feel really bad for the people around me.
My New Kids friend in junior high was Carisa Johnson. I remember countless evenings at her house watching videos and looking over her new Teen Beat and Big Bopper magazines. She always had so many videos! I was so jealous. We lost touch after junior high. I switched schools and the New Kids went away. Every concert I go to I think about her and all those happy times during Joe’s B Stage speech about everyone getting back together.
We mentioned the other day that we had an assignment for everyone that was going to require its own post. It is a good one but might involve a little work on your part. We want you to take Joey McIntyre’s advice and our challenge and track down someone from your New Kids past. I am going to track down Carisa. Kim has someone to track down too and I will let her tell you about that later. Make a connection with them. Laugh over how silly your hair used to be. Remember how good it all felt the first time. And then report back. Email us your story. Include a picture if you want. I think that this is really important for everyone to do because it’s good to connect with your past and because it’s a pretty big milestone celebrating 200 posts.
I have a really hard time adjusting to Daylight Savings Time. I love, LOVE the extra daylight, I just hate the whole go to bed early, get up early thing.
We let the dog sleep with us last night, which was a mistake as well... so I'm groggy from being up early, as well as having a 12-pound rat terrier kicking me in the kidney all night.
Remember waaay back in November when we ran a contest? The winner was misnkotb. We finally, finally sent her her grand prize a couple of weeks ago: her very own Project NKOTB action figure!
As we wrote about a couple of days ago, we have an assignment for you. If you are going to any shows this spring that are NOT Champaign and Des Moines, shoot us an email please! A prize may be involved, and we promise that it will not take us four months to send it to you.
But they were nice enough to bring us home. I think that they were annoyed by us talking about New Kids related stuff too much.
Now that we are back, we have some general blog housekeeping to take care of. We also have real housekeeping to take care of, but we're guessing that you don't want to hear about dust bunnies and dirty laundry.
1) If you are going to any shows on the spring tour that we are not going to (Champaign and Des Moines) shoot us an email. We have an assignment for you!! There may be a prize involved.
2) Are you familiar with the area surrounding Assembly Hall in Champaign, IL? Shoot us an email! There may be a prize involved!
3) Remember that article from Madison Magazine? Here are the outtakes from that interview from the author's blog. Sorry, no prize involved for clicking the link. It's a fun article though, in case you haven't yet read it.
There are actually a couple of other things that we need to tell you about. One is an update from something that we were working on last fall, and the other is another assignment for you. It's a fun one! We feel those things warrant their own posts though, so look for them in coming days.
In other news, the spring tour starts this weekend in Texas! We won't be there, but we are preparing for our shows by getting into crafting mode. We spent several hours with Tiff and Lisa last weekend working on signage. We think we're pretty hilarious. We are still working on what we'll be wearing, but there are a few weeks left to figure that out.
Did you catch any of the recent TV appearances? Which was your favorite? What are you wearing to the upcoming shows? Are you as excited this time around as you were last year? Can you believe this is happening again?
Here's the Jimmy Kimmel clip. They definitely benefit from having a live band backing them. The energy just isn't the same in the studio with a pre-recorded track (a la Regis & Kelly and the Today Show).
On the surface, you get savvy, smart, master's degree holding professionals who excel at their jobs and have loving families. Underneath all that impressiveness lie two raging fangirls willing to endure discomfort, inconvenience and the possibility of humiliation to prove that they are NKOTB's biggest fans (and hopefully, to score some backstage access).
About Project NKOTB
It all started about 20 years ago, when NKOTB really were new on the block. Kim and Alexis were fans then, and the love never faded. When the reunion was announced, Kim and Alexis knew that they had to make the most of the opportunity and see NKOTB as many times as possible, without totally abandoning those aforementioned careers and families.
Here, at Project NKOTB, they have chronicled their journeys to concerts at the Mall of America, Boston, Chicago, Saint Paul, Milwaukee, Omaha, San Diego, Los Angeles, Champaign, Des Moines, and Green Bay. They've trotted out memorabilia guaranteed to make women (and men) of their age group wistful and nostalgic. When it comes down to it, they generally party like it's 1988 (but with more drinks).
