Two posts in an hour! I'm surprised too.
I'm just so tickled by this clip that I had to share it with the rest of you. In all fairness, I just found it on the NKOTB Community forum.
We have tickets to see Lady GaGa on March 23 at the Fine Line here in Minneapolis. It's a very small venue and we're very excited! Alexis is looking forward to seeing her 11th grade prom date again.

Des Moines is named for the Des Moines River, which may or may not mean "The River of Monks," according to that font of totally reliable information, Wikipedia.

So with that in mind:
"Des Moines' 53 city parks offer a variety of recreation facilities including hiking, biking, picnicking, swimming, and tennis. The city boasts three golf courses, three family aquatic centers, five community centers, three swimming pools, and 28 miles of trail for walking, running, or biking."
But most importantly, Project NKOTB rides again! We've got 5* tickets for the 4/6 show at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
My knowledge of Des Moines is limited to a couple of college-era trips to visit my friend Jessica, who went to Drake. We went to a frat party once, I got stuck in a blizzard and had to turn around once, and I saw Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds do one of their acoustic shows from a very good seat in a very small concert hall - also, once. So for the most part, Des Moines has good things associated with it. It's also the place where we turn right to head to Colorado, and road trips to Colorado are almost always a good thing.
We're planning on Champaign, IL too, but we're going to get regular tickets for that one. And who knows what the summer will hold... maybe we'll be turning right at Des Moines again!

Medallion Hunt: FAIL
It was found this morning, and not by us. We had been looking in that exact area for the last few days though. It's very frustrating.
Also frustrating: it had been found more than three hours before we even went out for our lunchtime hunt. I stepped into ankle-deep freezing cold scummy spring water for nothing.
Awesome.
We were among a few hundred people searching at Swede Hollow when people began yelling "It's been found for real this time." Cell phones were whipped out, the hotline confirmed it (again, way to update your message Pioneer Press!), and a long progression of dejected treasure hunters started trudging out of the park. We looked like a bunch of laid-off coal miners, bundled up and carrying shovels and rakes and various other digging implements. It was a pretty funny sight actually.
The people who found it just happened to notice it bobbing along in the water. It had somehow became dislodged from its hiding place in the little stream bank.
Oh well. There's always next year.

New Dates... New Brain Melting... Toes Are Still Frozen
We just got back from another round of treasure hunting. We haven't yet found the medallion. Nuts. Aiden promised us that if he found the medallion, he would buy 5* tickets for everyone in the car. He had a fantastic idea - we should look for the medallion in the summer. Then it wouldn't be hidden by all of this snow, and our feet wouldn't get cold!
Kids are smart.
In other news, we are very excited about the newest round of tour dates!
I really wish that whomever is in charge of announcing these tour dates would just play all of their cards now. I'm appreciative of the little bones they've been throwing us, but knowing more information RIGHT NOW would really help us plan our tour. Do we do a slew of shows right now? Do we wait for these alleged "other" spring and summer dates? Yeah, probably. To the latter...
Right now we're thinking Champaign, Des Moines, and possibly Moline. We have tickets to Britney in Minneapolis on 4/3, so going to Moline would require a lot of extra driving. It's not off of the table yet though. Is anything really off of the table with us?

Frozen Toes, Overheated Brains
Greetings Homies!
Since we have not been keeping you updated to our minute-by-minute activity the past week we thought we should give you a little recap of what we have been doing.
We have NOT bought any tickets yet for the upcoming tour. We are hoping to find this and throw a few 5* parties this spring. $10,000 could buy a lot of 5* tickets!!
And here is a picture of how hot we are trying to find the puck yesterday. Don't you just want to throw every pick up line in the book at us right now?
In all fairness it was -40 degrees (with windchill) out and Kim was wearing her husband's snow pants and Alexis was wearing a partial ski mask and three pairs of pants. Between the two of us, our mountain of clothes would have outfitted a small third world country.
We have not found the medallion. If anyone knows where it is we will be more than happy to take you with us to the Moline, IL 5* with us.

We don't need to go cruisin' with the band...
We have the luxury of going cruisin' with Donnie and Joey anytime we want! It is just one of the many perks of being us.
We have spent the past few days discussing amongst ourselves and our posse our initial thoughts about the first batch of dates that were announced. There are not a lot of dates, and they all seem to be in parts of the country that we don't want to take flight chances with during the totally unreliable weather month of March.
As of right now, we are going to play the wait and see game. We were able to get really good tickets to several of the shows weeks and hours after they went on sale, so we are not super concerned about missing out on good tickets. And we don't need months or weeks to plan a trip. Some of our best adventures have been planned on the fly!!
We know they are going to announce more dates. We even have pretty good information about where some of them will be. So, we will be waiting. We expect the next batch of dates to be released sometime next week. We feel that Donnie is calling us West on this leg of the reunion and since we always do as Donnie says we are going to wait.
And if nothing else comes, Corrie in FL is going to have two girls tagging along while the guys are in Florida.
We are interested to hear what you guys are all planning? Whooping it up in Canada? Heading to the border and hoping not to trip over it? Getting wet in Niagra Falls?

Alexis talks about sex, and Kim talks about faux-telepathic abilities in an Australian fashion magazine
If you had told us three months ago that we would be in an Australian fashion magazine, talking about our New Kids obsession, and that article included a photo of us wearing identical HOMEMADE outfits, we would have asked you if you were on crack. And then we would have giggled and said, "Awesome." Or maybe we would have said "holla." We were going to make a New Years' Resolution about not Holla-ing so much, but we're not ready to give it up quite yet.

The Saddest Post of the Week
We're not going on the cruise. I know, I know... stay in your seats! The world is not coming to an end, we've just made a difficult decision. It will be awesome and fun and we wish all of you who want to go the BEST of luck in getting tickets tomorrow. 38,000 members of the NKOTB community vs. 2000 spots on the boat... you're going to need it ;)
It's been a hard day.
In case you've been living under a rock for the past 13 hours, here are some of the details:
What IS included with the prices?
You know what, kiddies? That's a lot of dough. We could go to 5-10 shows (depending on how many VIP we did) for the amount of money that we would blow in one weekend. As I was telling a friend, it's like eating an entire cake in one sitting, or saving a piece to eat each day of the week. Which one has the better payoff? It's a very personal decision. We intend to do a lot of road tripping this spring/summer, and for us, the cost-benefit analysis of the situation leans heavily in favor of skipping the cruise.
In the past, a lot of you have commented on our ability to have gone to so many shows. You know what the key is?
Fiscal responsibility.
I'm a little bit nervous reading the community boards... All of these women who can't make their mortgage payments, or who are about to lose their jobs to downsizing, or they're not working right now but they're *pretty* sure their husband is okay with them going - if they eat ramen for a year... There are big plans to put it on a credit card and pay for it later.
Honestly? That kind of talk scares me. This cruise is going to be amazing, and I wish that I had enough disposable income right now to do both the cruise and the tour (and pay bills and keep contributing to savings and retirement accounts), but that's just not the way it is. For those of you who can afford to go, I think that's awesome. Please check in with us. We'll be looking for guest bloggers. For those of you who are planning to "have a once in a lifetime experience and pay it off later," I wish you luck.

This is Aiden practicing for his performance at the AMAs in 2019. His goal is to look like Donnie all of the time. It has become expensive replacing all his Minnesota sports team gear with Celtics, Bruins and Patriots gear. Sigh- what is a mother to do?

Happy Friday! Holla. The Answers.
Since not many of you took our "how sober were we" challenge, we'll just give you the answers. Kim T, you were right about MOA. Tiff, you were close but not quite.
In order of most sober to most drinks consumed:
1. Mall of America. This was a looooong day, most of which was spent sitting in various lines. We did sneak away to have one cocktail at the Corona Cantina (after we were denied at Hooter's due to Alexis's clipped ID). Thanks Kim T for watching our stuff for us!
2. San Diego. We had one glass of champagne each at dinner, then we each had one drink at the show.
3. Omaha. We each had two drinks at the bar, then we had one drink when we got to the arena and one while Natasha was still onstage.
4. Milwaukee. We had had quite enough the previous night, thank you very much. But we still had a drink with dinner and one or two at the show.
5 &6. A tie by default: Chicago and Los Angeles. This is flip-flopped for us. Alexis had more in Los Angeles (see the recap; the universe intervened and spilled her last drink at lunch). Kim had more in Chicago. It was a stressful ride out there on the train from downtown... we had to get off of the train, take a bus in rush hour, then get back on the train, then take a horrible taxi ride with a homicidal driver.
7. Saint Paul. Tiff kind of hit the nail on the head with the circumstances... See comments on the previous post. Plus, we had to slam our wine in order to go see the reporter from WCCO. It wasn't our intention.
8. Boston. We admit to not being exactly sober at this show. We decided to walk around Cambridge earlier in the day with Kim's friend Jess and it was pouring rain. So we stopped at a few different watering holes to dry off. Then we went back to the hotel to get ready, stopping by to visit our friend the bartender, and ordering an entire bottle of champagne. It was something we had discussed months in advance, to celebrate the return of our favorite boy band. Then we met Sarah Rodman from the Boston Globe for a drink... but the bar that we were supposed to meet at was absolutely packed, so we ended up staying there longer than intended. We feel bad for behaving badly if we did. And then we went to the show... And had a blast.
Here's the thing, and the point of this post. By nobody's fault but our own, we have probably given you all the impression that we drink much more than we actually do. Yes, we drink. We've provided the illusion that we drink all day, but we rarely get drunk. We don't want you to have the wrong impressions of us. Because unlike some other folks out there, our families, friends, and jobs are much more important than anything else - including the New Kids... and going out drinking.
Hope you all have a great weekend. We've got lots of great stuff to talk about in the near future. The upcoming tour, the mystery "save the dates" (which fall over Kim's birthday), and who knows what else...

Project NKOTB on Parade
We're going through our to-do list of things that need to happen in the New Year. We've already crossed off seven items and it's only been a couple of hours!

Happy New Year!
Happy 2009, everybody! I hope that New Year's Eve treated you well. Did you ring it in with good friends? Was anybody in Vegas? I saw a different boy band last night, The Big Wu . Alexis rocked it out in her own style.
Below are our resolutions for 2009, regarding our blog and the New Kids on the Block. We don't really tend to make personal resolutions, because we are rational enough to figure that if we're going to do something, the date on the calendar shouldn't really have anything to do with it.
Alexis and Kim's 2009 Resolutions:
1. Reply to emails and answer questions. We admit to being bad about doing that. Terribly sorry. It's nothing personal, we're just easily distracted.
2. Try to post more regularly. Just because we're not on tour doesn't mean that we're not doing interesting things... We'd do another NaBloPoMo thing, but that was really stressful so we're not sure we want to do it again.
3. Go to as many more shows as realistically humanly possible (keeping fingers crossed that this alleged cruise thing in May doesn't cause us to sell our toes or anything).
4. Follow through with things that we have said we were going to do. Melissa, your action figure prize is completed. Maybe we should just get together to give it to you instead of trying to get our butts to the post office.
5. Like the Girl Scouts song says, Make New Friends but Keep the Old. In other words, meet more of you! And get to know those of you who we do know better!
And okay, a couple of personal ones.
6. Alexis resolves to use her Wii Fit more often, as soon as her knee heals. She injured it in an attempt to be more like me.
7. I resolve to try not to stress out about things for which I don't have all of the information. The 2009 tour, for instance.
Looking at #s 4&5, maybe it's time we had a ProjectNKOTB happy hour? Would you be interested?
