An Open Letter To NKOTB

Dear Danny, Donnie, Joe, Joe and Jordon,
Thanks for talking about us on stage tonight in CT. We have no idea who threw our magnet at you because we are currently at home in Minnesota. We wish we could have been there! We will be in Chicago this weekend. We look forward to getting a shout out then. We will be in town Friday-Sunday for our special facetime and maybe giving you your own magnets in person.

Hugs and Kisses,
Kim and Alexis

Boston: A Recap

Hello again, friends. We are both feeling somewhat human again. Did you know that if you don’t sleep more than ten hours over three nights, and if you spend a lot of time on an airplane, and then you don’t eat anything but half of an omelet, some chips, a chili dog, and a naughty cupcake all day, that you might not feel very good the next day? True story. There may have been a few cocktails in there too. It was New Kids day!

The trip out to Boston was fine and uneventful. By the time we made it through security we had 75 minutes until our flight boarded. Did you know that the MSP airport doesn’t serve alcohol until 8 am? So we wandered the concourse for awhile… This was the creepiest stuffed animal we’ve ever seen [in a megaclaw machine, or – really – ever]. Her name is “Catrina Gloss.” The tag reads: “This feline phenomenon was born in the ghetto and clawed her way out. With her glamorous gowns and vivacious voice, she is truly the cat’s meow. She put the purr in perfection and just may be the [unintelligible] animal icon.”

This is how big our luggage was. We shared a bag because we thought we’d have to pay to check one, and we couldn’t fit our stuff in our carryons. Little did we know that if your tickets are bought with World Perks miles, you get free checked luggage! Thanks to Alexis for preserving my knee by carrying this behemoth the entire way from the airport to the hotel (3 trains!).
IMG_0295

Once we got checked into our hotel room, we figured we should strategize how we spent the rest of our time before the show the following day, so we headed to our hotel bar - Characters. We had nothing but excellent service from the staff there. I was more than impressed with the way Alan (Allen? Allan?) the bartender washed his hands WITH SOAP at least twice and how he actually used the ice scoop correctly. Jared remembered our names all weekend. Thanks for putting up with us, guys! We didn’t get photos of Alan or Jared, but this is Chris, the assistant manager
NKOTB in Boston 046

We decided to head out to do some sightseeing. Alexis wanted to hit Charlie Flynn’s, a place she spent a good deal of time at while in college at Emerson. She nearly cried when she saw that it is now the Intermission Bar, and has been completely remodeled. Yet again, I was impressed with the staff… the cooks kept their water glasses outside of the kitchen! A scoop was used for ice! I’m easily impressed, I guess.

It rained all weekend. We walked quite a bit and did a little bit of shopping, but we had to take breaks because our feet were getting so wet. At Daisy Buchanan’s we found a newspaper that had our horoscopes in it:

Kim’s (Taurus):

Alexis’s (Scorpio):

We didn’t catch the bartender’s name, but we did catch that a $3 High Life and a small screwdriver with a splash of cranberry juice equaled $14. Oh really, Mr. Bartender?

My friend Jessica came down to visit us for the night. We’ve known each other since junior high. She lives in Maine now. We met her at North Station, then grabbed a drink at The Greatest Bar to dry out for a few minutes. We headed back to Cambridge and had dinner at Grendel’s Den. We headed back to the hotel after that and stopped in to see our friends at Character’s.
IMG_0304

The next morning, we headed out to find some brunch at Tommy Doyle’s. I don’t think this is where our concierge actually told us to go, but it was raining and they were open. Afterwards we took a little walk and did some more shopping.

By then it was time to get ready for the show! (!!!!!!!!)

We tried (and failed) to meet up with Coach Corrie from Florida before the show… sorry Corrie!

We did manage to meet up with Sarah Rodman from the Boston Globe and her friend Sean (Shawn? Shaun?). It was nice to meet you in person, Sarah (And Sean/Shawn/Shaun too, of course)!

Some other people we met and/or ran into (sometimes, quite literally). If you see yourself here, let us know so we can put a name to a face!

The show was absolutely amazing. I had been waiting almost 18 years for it, and I was not disappointed. The energy in the house was unreal. Everybody was smiling, dancing, hugging, screaming… I’m smiling just thinking about it. Although our seats for this show weren’t great (the 4th row on the aisle in the section in front of the soundboard), they were perfectly located for the rotating “B” stage on the back of the floor. Here’s a short clip of Dirty Dancing from that stage:

Don’t you think that I need a new camera? Please vote. I’m all in favor, but my husband is mostly opposed to the idea.

We didn’t get very many fantastic photos this time around, but here are a few that are worth sharing:

I just realized that this sort of reminds me of that video for This One’s For the Children, sans fake puffy clouds. Huh. I really like this photo but that video makes me smirk. When did I become so jaded?

Sigh. And then it was over.

We checked out the merch on the way out, but the hoodie that Alexis wanted wasn’t available in her size. We’ll look for it this weekend.

So… yeah. This weekend! In approximately 48 hours we’ll be boarding the Megabus headed to Chicago for round two!

I’m very excited.

And we're back...

What a long day. Holla at Drew for picking us up at the airport and Jason for picking me up from their house. Sucks to Indianapolis for having the lamest airport to spend 3 hours in I've ever experienced.

We'll get photos uploaded as soon as we're functional. It was nice to meet some of you.

A more detailed recap will be coming soon.

Getting our minds right

Kim and I are sitting in "Bukowskis Tavern" in Cambridge with our friend Jess having a drink and trying to get our minds right. It's hard to get your mind right when your brain left you in a fit of revolt a while ago.

Seriously, on about Wednesday I think my brain packed it's bags and marched off in a fit of disgust. It left my liver in charge.

We are trying to keep busy. Mixing up shopping, walking and drinking. I'm trying to find my kids appropriate gifts. I have found a few cute things but they told me they wanted "Boston surprises". Too bad they don't let you bring lobster home on the plane. Or do they, if someone knows how I can bring home live lobster or crabs let us know in the comments.

Holla! Hope you are all getting your minds right for the big VH-1 special tonight! Look for us on TV!

Xoxoxo
A and K

Happy New Kids Day!

Well, we woke up at around 10am which is super late for both of us. We have been laying in bed watching Best Week Ever on VH-1. We are slowly getting motivated to venture our for brunch. Brunch- not just breakfast. Breakfast with booze! From there our plans are a little up in the air. We are natrually giddy and obnoxious about tonight's festivities. We will update more later when we know what's going on. Holla!

On the LAST DAY

Before New Kids... We are in Boston and most of you are not. Suck it!!!!!!

Hugs and Kisses,
Alexis and Kim

So, we are sitting in

The Trident Cafe waiting for "fancy" mimosas to appear in front of us. We were going to ask the people next to us to take our picture- until we realized they were on their first date!!!! She is talking about her dreams of going to law school despite not wanting to be a lawyer. We want to smack her upside the head and tell her she would be better off getting her masters in pop culture!!

We finally have a cocktail!

In order to summarize our day so far and give appropriate shout-outs below is a timeline of this morning.

Holla at Jason for getting up after a night out with the boys to drop us off at the airport! They were even early getting to Alexis's house!

Holla at Aiden for being so awesome this morning and giving me lots of hugs and kisses goodbye! I hope that you have a fun time with Jason tonight!

Holla at the nice NWA curbside check-in attendant! Two girls sharing one bag=FREE LUGGAGE!

Holla at Maya and Noah, the 4 year old twin girls who sat in front of us for singing THE ENTIRE FLIGHT!

Holla at the two friendly strangers who approached us and gave us their T-Passes that expire Monday at 11am for free saving us a total of $30!

Holla at the front desk of the Marriott for allowing us to check in early!

Holla at Allen the wonderful bartender who did thwart our having a cocktail!

And they're off!

Well, we sitting at the airport waiting for our flight to board to Boston. Did you know they don't serve alcohol at the airport until 8am!!!! They are totally not grooving with our mission!

On the Second Day 'Til New Kids...

On the Second Day 'Til New Kids, Alexis and I were reminiscing about how this journey that we're about to embark on got started in the first place...

Last spring, when we heard that NKOTB were going to be on the Today Show with "big important news," Alexis BEGGED and BEGGED me to go to NYC for the announcement. I had to do a lot of talking down from the ledge, but in the end I promised her that if they were going to announce a reunion tour, that we could go to two shows. I think the original idea was that we'd go to Boston and a local one. So two shows. Two days 'til New Kids.

We raced to her house after work on that Friday, popped a bottle of champagne, and watched the [recording of the] big announcement. Not only was there going to be a tour, but they'd be back on the Today Show on May 16 - MY BIRTHDAY - for their first performance in many, many years.

Again, the idea of flying to NYC entered our heads... but again, we stuck to our 2 shows deal.

We originally bought tickets to Boston and Chicago, since we didn't know if they would be expanding the original tour dates to the whole country. Our two shows.

The rest, as those of you who have been reading for awhile know, is history. Two shows quickly became three with the announcement of an Xcel center show. The Mall of America announcement became four... Post-mall we bought tickets to LA in a moment of Single-induced mania... and now we've been convinced to do Milwaukee too.

People have asked us if this was our plan from the beginning. Let me tell you - it definitely was not. Last winter we were dancing around Alexis's dining room with some of our friends to Tonight and Step by Step, joking about how awesome it would be if the New Kids reunited. I don't think any of us really thought it would ever happen though.

I'm really happy and content right now. Things are good.

Wish us luck on our travels over the weekend. We'll be updating via Blackberry and Twitter so be sure to stay tuned. Our flight leaves MSP in less than 11 hours! Woo Hoo!!!!!!!

The Third Day 'Til New Kids

On the Third Day 'Til New Kids I went to Target three times.

Three times!!!

The really horrible thing about that is that all of the trips were within four hours, and I had a list each time.

The first time I got sidetracked at the One Spot, where they have all sorts of new The Office supplies. No "I <3 Jim" gear this year, but Pam has a few items. Good for her. I haven't yet watched tonight's episode yet, so please don't spoil it!

The second time, I was just really distracted. I was on a mission for jeans because I realized this afternoon as I was packing that the jeans I was intending to wear on Sunday don't look good with the shirt that plan to wear. There aren't many places open at 8:00... so in desperation I went back to Target. I scored some surprisingly cute jeans (four pairs actually - I know, I know...) and a purse. It was bad.

I then went to Alexis's house with my bag full of most of my gear for the weekend. We're sharing a suitcase. We had a fashion show in the garage, and it was determined that the jeans are about 1/2 inch too long. So now I either need to find a tailor who can do same-day hemming or find new shoes. Neither of them is going to be very easy... especially considering my screwy knee. I don't think my physical therapist would like it if I wore more than a 2" heel.

On my way home I remembered that I still needed a lint roller from the first trip to Target, so I swung back in. God Bless Target for being open until 10. I checked the Barbie clothes to see if there was a fall line yet, but no dice. The pants for my new fall outfit don't exactly close in the back...

So now there are only about 32 hours left until we need to be at the airport...

Yay!!!!!!!

On the 4th Day Til New Kids

My son drew this picture of Kim and I on stage with the guys.

Row 1: Donnie (wearing a Alexis shirt), Jordan (wearing a Aiden shirt), Jon (wearing a Kim shirt), Danny (wearing a Bad shirt. As in Bad to the Bone)
Row 2: Joey, Alexis and Kim.

He would like me to point out that I am much bigger than Kim because I am awesome.

Notice the attempt at New Kids Rule!! He is really trying hard to suck up so he can come to Chicago.

The Fifth Day 'Til New Kids

On the fifth day 'til New Kids...

Okay, confession time. We're tired. This one is going to be short and to the point. It's late and I think we have officially broken our brains over the course of the last three days. We are both anxious wrecks, and we just spent an hour in Alexis's garage huffing varnish. The last part isn't true, but we did put a coat of varnish on our new magnets. Before that we went shopping and bought some cute new shirts (me) and a belt (Alexis). Alexis asked if she could have a hermit crab too, and that's when I knew that things were quickly taking a turn for the worse.

Back to business.

On the fifth day 'til New Kids, let's review the five shows that we will be attending:

1. September 28 - TD Bankgarden North, Boston MA

2. October 4 - Allstate Arena, Rosemont IL

3. October 21 - Xcel Energy Center, St Paul MN

4. October 22 - Bradley Center, Milwaukee WI

5. November 25 - Nokia Theater, Los Angeles CA

Can't. Wait.

On The 6th Day Til New Kids

On the 6th day 'til New Kids the devil invaded our bodies and has turned us into quivering masses of crazy. The nervous energy and excitement is pulsing through our veins at such an extreme rate that I feel bad for anyone who has to be near us for longer than about 10 minutes. Take our pre-Mall of America crazy and multiply it by about 666,666 and you will get an idea of how Kim and I acting/feeling today. And we are still 6 days away from even seeing the New Kids. My husband told me that he would just wait and talk to me next week (or the week after) because he could see little red people running around behind my eyes. I think that he was scared.

I was talking to my boss today and about 3 minutes into the conversation I realized I was doing a mini dance to "Single" and was humming the song along. I was totally paying attention and participating in the conversation too. I caught myself half way into the second verse. Whatever invaded my just body decided that 3 minutes of non New Kids conversation was too much. I rushed home and poured myself a cocktail. I felt better.

Everyone deals with stress, anxiety and excitement in their own way. I deal with it by buying, sorting through, and PACKING bags. I have been obsessed with bags for as long as I can remember. I have specific bags for everything in my life (and so do my kids). Going to the pool? That's the monogrammed tote! Going to work? That's the black Coach file bag. Taking the Barbies on an adventure? It’s the pink Croc sling. Working out? The blue Nike tote! It's a sickness really.

So, I have 3 toiletry bags always packed and ready to grab. One is a "quick overnight" bag, one is a "going to the cabin" bag, and one is "working outside" bag. I do not however have a "going on tour with the New Kids" bag. I will be packing that one tonight. It will need things that are not normally included in a married person’s toiletry bag I am sure. I also realized today that I have about a brazillion other bags to pack. My kids need bags packed as well. They need an "Uncle Jason Sleepover" bag packed for when Kim and I are in Boston. Kim's amazing husband volunteered to watch the kids Saturday night while my husband is at work. They also will each need separate bags for the following weekend since we are only home for 2.5 days between Boston and Chicago. My son is going to Chicago on the bus with us to hang with my sister for the weekend and Baby Barbie is going to the lake with my Dad. It may be over a week away but it makes me so happy to have a well packed bag. That may get done tonight too. If I have my way, I will be packing bags and bags to pack in bags all night.

Here is the sickest bag that I have been working on... a bag to hold all of the magnets we made and our business cards to give out to people. I searched through my stash but I think I found the right one. It also fits well inside my purse. SICK and TWISTED! But the magnets are awesome!

Seriously, if you are thinking of having me committed please wait until after LA.

The Eighth Day 'Til New Kids

On the eighth day 'til New Kids, we realized that... damn. We misnumbered. Today is actually the seventh day!

When we were originally thinking of doing the Twelve Days, I had it in my mind that we'd do the Twelve Days of New Kids, starting with the first day and going up... like the Christmas song. Alexis had it in her mind that we'd do it starting with the twelfth day and work downwards (even though the song sounded wrong in her head). So when we were figuring out which day to start it on, I said we had to start Wednesday, and even though Alexis was thinking that Tuesday had to be the start day, she agreed with me. So she started it out (on Wednesday), and that's how we got off track. If we'd done it her way, we should have started Tuesday. That's what you get for trusting me, folks... Fact check. Always, always, fact check.

So really, we were both right. And wrong.

We really only have seven days 'til New Kids.

Or maybe we were just thinking like The Beatles . We're both feeling a bit overworked right now.

The 9th Day 'til New Kids

On the 9th day 'til New Kids I spent several hours trying to figure out how to convince Kim that we should add another concert to the mix using the number 9 as rationale.

Alexis: So, you had two concerts from the past, I had two concerts from the past.

Kim: Yes. I had Target Center and Harriet Island and you had Met Center and Target Center.

Alexis: Right. And we both had Mall of America.

Kim: ooookaaaayyy

Alexis: And we both are going to have Boston, Chicago, St Paul, Milwaukee and LA.

Kim: Yes we are.

Alexis: That only makes 8.

Kim: Good math skills.

Alexis: Thanks. I made a list.

Kim: I'm sure you did.

Alexis: I think we need to add another show.

Kim: Why?

Alexis: Because then we would have 9 and could use it for the 9th Day Til New Kids!!!!

Kim: Or we could just use it for the 8th day.

Alexis: {in super whiney, quivery voice} But how are we going to survive the MONTH between Milwaukee and LA???

Kim: I'm sure it will be tough but we can do it.

Alexis: {getting a little bit more neurotic sounding} But we can barely survive the week before Boston!!!

Kim: I know.

Alexis: The anxious energy today about Boston was so unbearable that we had to go to Target and buy travel pillows today to deal with it.

Kim: Alexis, we can't add another show unless it's free.

Alexis: {almost screaming} You hate me and don't ever want me to be happy!

And now, I'm off to the Loony Bin. Hopefully they let me out in time for Boston.

The 10th Day 'til New Kids

On the 10th Day til New Kids we reviewed the rules for the tour.

Presenting the 10 Commandments of The Block Tour

I. You shall love no other boy bands more than you love the New Kids on the Block.

II. You shall not attempt to profit from any humiliation, embarrassment, or other indiscretion that any NKOTB member may commit, no matter how funny it may be.

III. You shall not take the name of any New Kid in vain.

IV. On concert day, you must commit to NKOTB plans and ONLY NKOTB plans, insofar that they relate to you having a good time and you looking your best.

V. Love your mother and father, and respect their wishes for you to be "responsible" during the 2008 NKOTB Reunion tour. You are in your 30s though... it's not like they can really control you anymore.

VI. You shall not kill neither your brain nor your liver cells while on NKOTB tour. You'll need them later. You may, however, give them a good workout.

VII. You shall not refuse to hug the guys as often as you are given the chance.

VIII. You shall not purchase nor sell extra NKOTB tickets via a ticket scalper. Ticket scalpers will have their very own special layer of hell to deal with when the time is right.

IX. You shall not rat out the drunk chick at the concert who totally is in your section to the bouncers or ushers, even though her seats are three sections back... because someday, somewhere, you may have been that drunk chick.

X. You shall not covet your friend's favorite New Kid. Not publicly, anyway.

The Eleventh Day 'til New Kids

On the eleventh day 'til New Kids... we confirmed that we were both eleven years old the first time we heard New Kids on the Block.
Last night, Alexis and I were discussing our first New Kids Experiences. Alexis's aunt Pam was the person who first introduced her to the group. The video for "You Got It (The Right Stuff)" was on TV, and Pam dragged Alexis to the TV, telling her that there was a new group that she thought she'd really like. Apparently this fact was recently brought up to Pam, and she is claiming no responsibility for any of our impending actions.

As far as I can remember, my introduction to the New Kids was the video for Please Don't Go Girl. It must have been on Nick Rocks (holla at Nickelodeon), because I think my mom had shut off our cable by that point. Or maybe that was the following summer... I distinctly recall watching Pauly Shore host Spring Break... scrambled. At any rate, I wasn't a big fan. I think I thought that their outfits were weird. Looking back on it, pretty much everybody's outfits were weird in 1988. I cringe at my junior high photos.

It wasn't until the summer of 1989, during the Kids Choice Awards, that I fell headfirst into the punchbowl of New Kids Koolaid. They did a pre-show interview with Wendy from Don't Just Sit There (how's that for two Nickelodeon references in one post?). I remember staring at Donnie's torn jeans thinking "how on earth are those staying together???" They performed Hangin' Tough during the show, and from that moment on, all bets were off. All available allowance and babysitting money was spent on posters, magazines, cassette singles, buttons, etc. etc. etc.

I mean, really. As much as it pains me to share this with the interwebs, check out this photo from my 13th birthday:
Kim at 13

Scary, right?

We're Going to Milwaukee!

We found a buyer for our extra St Paul tickets!!! Before we had a chance to change our minds, I checked Ticketmaster. 8th row, center section tickets were available!!! Squeeee!!!

I'm laughing right now... Five shows, five cities, five New Kids on the Block.

This is getting ridiculous. In a ridiculously awesome kind of a way.

HELP ME HELP YOU!!

This is me on my hands and knees asking for help. I really want to go to Milwaukee now. It is becoming another "Boston Dilemma" all over again. It is consuming a lot of my energy. Here is the problem: Kim and I agreed that we would not add any more shows until we got rid of all of our extra tickets. We have two extra seats to the St Paul show on October 21st at the X-Cel. The seats are located in FLR L, Row 44. So, in order to sweeten the deal we are including a little bonus to whoever buys them. Not only will you get two great tickets to the show, you will get your very own Barbies as the Tiny versions of yourself. Your Barbies will be featured on our blog(s) as well. We can take photos of your Tiny version with the NKOTB Tiny versions too! You will get to keep your Tiny versions at the end.
So, you get two tickets, two look-a-like Barbies and you get to hang out with our Barbies and I get to go to Milwaukee.

The 12 Days of NKOTB

On the 12th day of New Kids my true loves gave to me... The gift of listening to Step by Step 12 times in a row with a dancing naked 2 year old who kept yelling, "Step da Step Beee beee" over and over.

She was also eating a bag of raisins. Every time the song would end she would jump up and down asking for “More Step da Step Mamma” and the raisins would go all over the floor. Our dog was happy.

Last year when Kim and I went to see Justin Timberlake I remember scanning the audience and seeing several mother's with their pre-tween and tween daughter's. Right then and there I made Kim pinkie swear promise that when Baby Barbie was old enough we would make sure she got to see whatever concerts were available for whatever hot band was out there at the time. She agreed. It may have been the double vodka drinks that we had been ordering.

When the NKOTB reunion tour was first announced I was talking to my mom about Kim and I flying to Boston and Chicago she was totally supportive. I remember saying something about my frequent flier miles and all my rewards point that I had been saving. Her response was classic, "Alexis, you have been saving all that stuff for years for something! This is what you were saving it for- you just didn't know it at the time." My mom has always been super supportive of stuff like this. She made sure that my sister's and I always saw the bands that we loved when they came to town even if it meant paying for us to take friends and hiring a babysitter to escort us.

I want to make sure I'm that mom. I want to be able to sit in the front row of some hot boy band with my daughter squealing and carrying on. I want the two of us to throw caution to the wind and take off to both coasts like Kim and I are doing right now. We are having the time of our lives and I owe my kids the gift to have this much fun as often as possible. Especially since I really was kind of saving those reward points for a trip to Disney World.

The Official Party Invite!

Project NKOTB Cordially Invites You...

We are super psyched and hope that everyone can make it!! Remember, free parking and New Kids drinks specials. Can you really go wrong?
XOXOXO

A WTF moment...

So I was just out for a little walk on this lovely fall evening, listening to some tunes [okay, and maybe I was singing along to some tunes...] and I was reminded of the Single video, which I finally watched in its entirety last week for the first time on a real TV screen.

[yes, I'm sort of technologically challenged... I'm okay with it]

The video's really good... unlike that other video that's more like some crazy hallucinogenic Jason Bourne Tells P-Diddy To Throw a Rager at the Love Shack thing... but what's the deal with Jon being in the women's restroom? The main character's having a fine old time and then some dude picks up her lipstick from the sink? I'd give him a weird look too...

Check it out for yourself here .

Anyway.

We realized today that we have only twelve days until we leave for Boston. That's pretty awesome :) Our travel plans have been confirmed, our hotel room is booked, now we need to figure out luggage...

Let's talk about the difference, or lack thereof, between people and girls...

So Alexis and I are sitting in my home office/craft room/bat cave working on some NKOTB stuff...

Seriously, neither of us knew that this little blog project thing and tour (and tour logistics) would become like a second full-time job!

Anyway.

We're working on some stuff, and we need Gmail for it, but Gmail is so not cooperating right now... So we decided to turn up the tunes and bask in some NKOTB for a few minutes.

Tonight happened to be coming onto the playlist at just that moment...

Alexis said, "Let's talk about the difference between people and girls for a minute." I chuckled, but she brings up a very important point, and one that I've been complaining about for approximately 18 years.

"Remember when we travelled 'round the world... We met a lot of people, and girls"

Hmm. Really? What are girls, if not people? Not to get all women's lib and shit, but even at 13 years old, I realized that something was just kind of off with that line. It's never really been a dealbreaker or anything (obviously), but it's just always bugged me. And now I think it bugs Alexis too.

Alexis would like to bring up the fact that sometimes, after I've been at happy hour or something, I have a tendency to email her random song lyrics. Tonight makes a frequent appearance, as does Games.

We are making an official call for discussion. What do you think? Are girls people? Are people girls? Is this like one of those GRE questions where if Joe wears a yellow tie on Tuesday, can he possibly get the job at the bank on Friday? How many sides does a half-eaten rice krispie bar have? Does it make a difference whether a girl or a person was eating it? Should Kim and Alexis go to Milwaukee? Do you think that people are thinking of what they say, thinking of what they do, thinking of what they're tryin' to put us through?

Seriously, are we people? Or girls? Or Barbies?

Thanks for the invite, girls!

We're currently sitting in Alexis's dining room trying to plan the logistics of Boston & LA. Hotel rooms are frickin' expensive... We reserved our LA room, but we're still waiting on Boston. We'd like to stay somewhere in the vicinity of the arena without forking over an entire paycheck.

For those in the know - where's a good place to try to get a room in Boston? Hook us up!

Later taters... we both need naps. Actually, three of us need naps - Miss Mad Doggy-Dogg is here too.

So, I would like to talk

I would like to talk about our (together!!!) first listening of "The Block"...
Oh, it was magical but I was shocked at how little "squeeeeeing" there was. Shocking because I "squeeee" A LOT! So, we listened and enjoyed and then I said, "So, should we book our tickets to Boston before I come to my senses or do you want to sit here and just listen!" Well, we booked the tickets to Boston thanks to some kid named "Justin" working at an NWA phone bank. Seriously "Justin" you could have told us there was a $20 surcharge for booking on the phone! Whatever....we are going to Boston to see our guys because that's how we roll. We roll in a certain style called, "Project NKOTB". Oh, I'm sure there are people who are none-too-pleased about our adventure but...
If you are a member of my family you can blame it on Kim and if you are a member of Kim's family you can blame it on me. Or you can blame it on the rain...
Anyway you look at it we are heading to Boston!!!!
Squeeeeeeee...

GAME ON!!!

Let's talk about signs.

Do you believe in signs?

We know that you're probably very sick of us blabbing on about the internal dilemma going on [and on, and on] about Boston.

This will be one last post about the stupid little dilemma/issue/conflict/struggle that we've been having. Promise.

Let's review the evidence:

-We bought tickets for the 9/28 show in Boston - a hometown show.
-We decided that maybe we should skip it in favor of adult responsibilities
-We decided that's stupid; we should go
-We re-decided that we can't do it.

Since then, we've gotten lots of what we're calling signs. Although in reality, we're probably forming our ideas relative to the information that we've been given... kind of like horoscopes.

Signs:
-When thinking about Boston, I've gotten into the car and Summertime has been on the radio
-Or another song about life being too short has been on the radio
-As I type this, Summertime is playing and I'm not puking [Kim]
-We got a lot of positive feedback about people encouraging us go to go Boston
-The girl who was going to buy our tickets on eBay bailed on us
-A reader (Carla) offered us a place to stay and some words about living life while you've got the time [we'll be staying in a hotel, but thanks for the offer and the encouragement! maybe you can buy us a cocktail :)]
-Other things that I can't really recall at the moment, but they definitely happened...

We totally just bought our plane tickets to Boston!!!

Deep breaths... Deep breaths...

So yeah. Now our tour itinerary includes Boston 9/28, Chicago 10/4, St Paul 10/21, and Los Angeles 11/26. What. The. Hell.

It's a really good thing that I just worked 50.5 hours of overtime at the Republican National Convention. It's an even better thing that Alexis randomly decided to check the WorldPerks website for flights from MSP to Boston and learned that she could fly for free...

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!

We're finally listening to "The Block" and mostly loving it.
Stay tuned... the adventures really are about to start!!!

I have been missing Kim this week...

Kim is very important and has been busy with the RNC being in town. This has totally inconvenienced me and made me kind of lonely. It has made me spend my evenings doing laundry instead of plotting world domination with Kim. Have I mentioned before that I am a little co-dependent? Despite our city being taken over by thousands of visitors, The Block was released on Tuesday. After dropping my son off at his first day of First Grade, my daughter and I headed out to the MOA to pick up our pre-orders from Best Buy from the big grand opening event a few weeks ago. Not Kim- she was too busy being important. I was originally told by the customer service person that we could only get the standard issue album and not the Deluxe version. That did not make me happy. Luckily, I have an in with Jenn the Assistant Manager (Holla at Jenn!) who gave the go-ahead for us to upgrade to the Deluxe. So, Mad Doggy-Dogg and I drove home with two brand spankin’ new copies of “The Block”. Ms. Doggy-Dogg was very excited to see pictures of "My Joey and My Donnie" as she so lovingly refers to them.

Now, here is the most shocking thing about the new CD… Are you ready? No really, are you sitting down? Because this is CRAZY. I have not listened to it yet. I drove to the MOA to be there as the Best Buy gates went up and I have yet to enjoy the entire CD. I can’t do it without Kim. I would feel like I am cheating on her or something. She has given me permission several times so far and I can’t do it. Call me crazy- but when I hear it for the first time I want to have authentic squeals that I share with Kim. I am hoping that she gets done with work at a decent hour so that we can enjoy a nice cold beverage and listen to the CD from start to finish. Together. How is should be.

Does anyone have a good story about listening to the CD for the first time? Share it in the comments so I have something to get me through then evening if Kim has to work late. Wow, that sounded like a jealous wife. At least I would be the jealous wife of a Democrat. Just the wife of someone who is so important that she has to keep us all safe- including the people at the RNC.
